Update #1: Some new info inside the encrypted text

Update #2: Pierre from L'Aigle wrote me an other mail about the arm.

Since people asked, attached are pictures of what our sheet-metal arm looks like, in compare to our "sexy" CNC arm. We'll actually merge the design and adjustment method of the CNC arm with the technics of the sheet-metal arms for "your" series and our upcoming regular series. We'd just do it a little earlier than scheduled for the REDusers, if ever needed.

I attached the photos below the photos of the CNC version.

Update #3: Pierre from Aigle responded to the questions of reduer members I forwarded to him

Are all parts manufactured in France?

Yes, they are, except for standard catalogue parts like bearings, spirit levels, screws, etc.

Can you post some pictures of the bag and trolley?

See attached. The bag is for arm, sled, tripod, frontmounted vest and a little softbag for accessories and monitor.

Could you include in the package a power cable for the RED one or the RED Epic (6pin LEMO, see manual), depending on which option is ordered?

We wouldn't supply any cable (other than standard BNC and XLR4 cables), but just an extremely easy way to wire the sled the way each user want it.

How much do sled, arm and vest each weight?

Sled 3,8kg, arm 4,5kg, vest 2,8kg.

Quentin wrote me that the test was postponed. Are there any reviews by independent authors, which you could send me?

Attached is a review from a canadian journalist and operator, about as outdated as the 2005 to 2010 reviews you [posted].

Here some photos of the previous arm. The proposed arm will look similar, but will feature the improvements mentioned in the offer.

  2. Interesting Indeed, is that a group buy price, or the normal price.

  3. That's the group buy price. Normal price for this unit will be way higher. I'll post more details, like how many buyers are needed for this price to apply, tomorrow. Any questions you have towards this offer or this system?

  4. I'm in for sure! Would love to know the actual price though.

  5. Where is the product shipping from? Will there be additional customs or other taxes due from the buyer, or is that an "all in" price?

  6. Thanks David! Any chance to have one to test out at NAB? Lots of RedUsers around then, I may be willing to go with this higher cost rig but would want to have a hands on test first.

I'm intrigued by the non spring design and how that feels operating...

My only question is with the v lock plate on the bottom, is there an easy way to change or adapt the connection to a lemo compatible with the Reds? I do like the idea of running our own cables through the post easily instead of pre-installed ones.

  7. This looks to be a pretty good price on the system. I'd also like to check it out at NAB if possible... the exact system they would use in the group buy.

  9. For Tyler, there is a XLR4 to Lemo that Red is selling ;-)

  10. Also meant to ask, what minimum number of units is this price based on? If it's significantly less than 100, can you prod the manufacturer to see if there's any way they would come down another 14.3 % on sales of 100 or more, which makes a nice round number I won't publish here because I'm not sure if we're supposed to discuss price specifics in the thread. Even if we don't have enough committing to make that number right now, I have a feeling the way new people keep dropping by the REDUser threads that we could have that many in another few weeks, especially since this unit will apparently fly the RED One as well.

  13. Does running an hdmi cable through the post effect the movement of the sled?
    Thank you.
    Very interested in this.
I'd like to confirm/be sure it'll fly something as small as a 5Dmiii with a 7.7"moni on it, and an hdmi cable through the post (large hdmi on both ends).

    Thank you!
